Shepherdless Pie

Having over indulged on morello cherry chocolate cupcakes, this week will see us attempting some healthier meals. This is our first meal from Thrive on Five, a book which promises to help you eat your five-a-day in the space of a single mealtime.

Shepherdless pie replaces minced lamb with green lentils, which lend a similar texture. A base of celery, onion and carrot add the savoury base while porcini mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce again add a meaty flavour.

Extra calories came in via the topping of creamy mash coated with parmesan, so this perhaps wasn’t as healthy as expected. Also, in spite of halving this recipe for four, there still seemed a huge quantity of food: a possible consequence of trying to include all five portions of vegetables.
